Toilet Papering Incidents

Our neighborhood has recently been hit by several incidents of toilet papering (TP-ing). Typically a teenage prank, perpetrated by kids who know kids living in the home, TP-ing is also a nuisance and a mess for the affected homeowners.

The Neighborhood Watch was asked for some guidance in dealing with these incidents. The Woodridge Police can and in some cases have been called when homeowners catch the pranksters in the act. If the police are called, the matter is turned over to them. They will deal with the teenagers involved and require the parents to make restitution.

The Police indicated the best deterrent to TP-ing is for parents to talk to their kids about it BEFORE it happens. The Police suggest explaining the consequences and holding the kids accountable if their house gets TP’d, so they make it clear to friends not to do it.

If you are the unfortunate victim of a TP-ing incident, prompt removal will alleviate the problem of toilet paper blowing all over the neighborhood.

Thank you – The Neighborhood Watch
