Park District Board Approves Greene Farm Barn Renovations
Submitted by Helene Lamarre on 20 July 2010 - 8:08am.Following a public open house and survey period, the Board of Commissioners of the DuPage Forest Preserve District voted to allocate $1.3 million to stabilize the Green Farm Barn at Hobson and Greene Roads. When additional funds are available, further renovations will convert the building into a multipurpose open space and a rental area for recreational equipment, such as bicycles and cross-country skis. A number of local residents and I served on a Citizen’s Advisory Board which recommended that the barn be saved and opened some day as a multi-purpose facility. This was the original intent of Greene family members when they deeded the property to the district.
The district’s decision is great news for residents in the area. This historical site will not continue to disintegrate and be in danger demolition. Local residents will continue to enjoy the history and rustic beauty of the barn and can look forward to improvement of the property. A big thank you goes to Carl Schultz , Forest Preserve District Commissioner, who has championed the preservation of the barn and who assembled the advisory board. Carl has worked hard to make sure that local residents’ voices were heard on this issue.

Please Do Your Part To Keep Sidewalks Clear
Submitted by mbratton on 11 June 2010 - 8:06am.From the Village of Woodridge:
As a friendly reminder to our residents, the improvement in the weather means that more people will be using sidewalks to get around town. Travel on sidewalks can be made difficult by overgrown bushes and shrubbery or low branches on trees. If this is the case near your home, please trim this landscaping so that the sidewalk is easily traversed. Additionally, please make sure that any cars parked at your home do not obstruct the sidewalk. The Police Department often gets calls regarding cars parked over sidewalks. Avoiding cars parked this way saves your neighbors from making a call and you a possible fine of $30! Please do your part so that we all can enjoy using the sidewalks this summer.

Submitted by saritagilligan on 17 March 2010 - 11:52am.Seven Bridges Residents!
Your feedback is critical to the future of the Greene Barn. Please click on the link of the DuPage Forest Preserve District (below) and go to the picture of the barn at the right. Under the picture is a link to a pubic survey. Please click on the link for the survey and share your views. This is your chance to have say in the disposition of the Greene Farm on Hobson across from our subdivision. (Perhaps a final chance to voice your opinion!)
